Brooklands Meadow
Project Overview
The Brooklands Development forms part of the Eastern Expansion Area in Milton Keynes - part of wider growth targets of 44,000 houses in total for the area.

Brooklands Meadows is a Reservoir that provides a safeguarded wildlife corridor, recreation amenity for residents and includes the provision of play areas.

This major piece of civil engineering infrastructure, is a multifunctional reservoir that provides attenuation of storm water run-off from the development, raises development land out of the flood plain whist providing a suitable flood plain compensation area, recreational facilities and ecological benefits for the local community.

This important infrastructure project for Brooklands Development includes a SuDS facility that helps control and reduce the flood risk.

We encouraged our team to think creatively, which allowed us to combine master planning, urban design, landscape architecture, and engineering designs to create a space that serves many purposes. The vision for Brooklands Meadows has been achieved through teamwork between the project team, consultants, key stakeholders, and the local community.

It also makes the area more attractive, which contributes to a better quality of living. The leisure routes through the Meadows are easily accessible and well-connected for pedestrians, cyclists, and people with limited mobility, (e.g. steep slopes were completely avoided).

Brooklands Meadows provides major environmental benefits including;
• facilitating crucial access to the development,
• provision of public open space,
• creation of key pedestrian and cycle links,
• promotion of health and well being, through the amenities provided,
• flood risk mitigation and pollution control,
• landscaping and habitat creation.
